Cloud/DevOps Engineer –AWS, Linux, Kubernetes, Terraform

To work for a market leading SaaS provider of technology to the Financial Services industry to be based in London but is part remote.

Within their industry they use innovative architecture technology to enable their clients to ensure a wider reach of their services in a more effective and efficient way through their extensive use of APi extensibility.

 

They are looking for a top-level Cloud Engineer who has extensive automation experience and a clear understanding of key Cloud practices and tooling around using AWS. The role will consist of maintaining and improving the existing automation as well as researching new technologies and implementing them to support the overall cloud infrastructure.

 

The AWS Cloud engineer will have a solid grounding in CI/CD practices, have a good understanding of distributed systems and must be able to think and act quickly on their feet to solve problems a fast-moving environment. You will also assist in both the design and delivery of fault tolerant application infrastructure.

 

Key Responsibilities

• To maintain cloud infrastructure and delivery technology

• To write and maintain automated software delivery pipelines.

• To instrument and analyse processes in the delivery pipeline.

• Assisting in the design, delivery, and operation of fault tolerant distributed systems.

• Ownership of key elements of our CD pipeline.

• Design, delivery, and maintenance of software delivery pipelines.

• Design, delivery, and maintenance of application infrastructure

• Act as a technical authority and reference for platform related issues, including escalations.

 

Essential Technical Skills

• Experience using and operating in AWS or similar.

• Understanding of the use of version and source control systems.

• Proficient using and configuring Linux, CentOS

• Good knowledge of Terraform

• Good knowledge of containerisation – Docker / EKS

• Bash and python scripting experience.

• Experience writing Jenkins Pipeline DSL.

• Basic relational database knowledge – SQL server preferred but MySQL or PostgreSQL fine

• Experience configuring and operating a load balancer or webserver running Nginx, Apache or HA Proxy

• Sound knowledge of CI/CD and Cloud concepts.

• Familiar with Microservice architecture and concepts

• Familiar running distributed systems (tracing a call through the network stack etc)

• Experience working with package managers
